A relaxed stitching circle inspired by Victorian crazy patchwork.

Step into Patchwork Parlour, a gentle two-hour gathering where the pace is unhurried, conversation flows easily and every scrap of fabric carries the possibility of a new story.

Inspired by the rich tradition of Victorian crazy patchwork, these gatherings celebrate decorative hand embroidery, treasured textile scraps and the pleasure of making alongside others. Whether you’re an experienced stitcher or picking up a needle for the first time, you’ll be warmly welcomed around the table.

Tea, coffee and homemade cake are served during the morning. All materials are included.

About the workshop

atchwork Parlour is a relaxed, hosted stitching circle inspired by Victorian crazy patchwork.

Unlike a formal sewing class, everyone works at their own pace while Rose demonstrates techniques, offers individual guidance and helps each person develop their own ideas.

A large collection of carefully curated cottons, silks, embroidery threads and decorative trims is available to explore. Beginners are warmly welcomed, while experienced stitchers can work independently or bring along a project of their own.

Tea, coffee and homemade cake are served during the morning, making Patchwork Parlour as much about conversation and creative community as it is about stitching.

What you make and Learn

You may begin your own crazy-patch block, stitch on one of Rose’s prepared blocks, continue an existing embroidery project or contribute to the evolving community quilt.

Through conversation and demonstration, you can explore:

  • Feather stitch, chain stitch and herringbone stitch
  • French knots, couching and other decorative embroidery techniques
  • Layering and combining fabrics, colours and patterns
  • Adding embroidery, trims and embellishments
  • Developing a patchwork block into a cushion, bag, quilt or textile artwork

Patchwork Parlour is process-led, so you may complete a small stitched piece or begin something larger to continue at home or during another gathering.

What to Bring

Nothing is required—all materials will be available in the studio.

You’re very welcome to bring an embroidery project of your own, treasured fabric scraps, special threads or decorative trims if you’d like to incorporate them into your work.
